Aaron Pollard and Stephen Lawson

“Besides doomed divines, other theatrical spirits conjured up include East Village performance artist Jack Smith, the late Charles Ludlam (founder of NYC's Ridiculous Theatre), even Canada's own Tanya Mars. At its best, camp exposes the questionable nature of gender, class, and race, while also creating empathy for its subjects. This is very much the territory that Lawson and Pollard travel…”

lemieux.pilon 4d art proposes a hybrid type of show that merges reality and virtuality, performing arts and new media.  The borders that separate performance, scenography, cinema, video, dance, poetry, visual arts, lighting design, music and sound exploration disappear, bringing about a total integration of the various forms of artistic expression.

Over the years, lemieux.pilon 4d art has developed an unequalled avant-gardist mastery of multimedia techniques applied to the performing arts.

"L’Atopie textuelle est une cause qui se perd" (Textual Atopia : A lost cause) is an artistic manoeuvre taking place simultaneously both on the planet Earth and on the planet Web. It was launched on December 21, 2000 in Québec City.

The participants are invited to circulate from hand to hand around the world metal objects which have come from a perforated sculpture. There are 476 of these round flattened “discs”.

Participants register on the Web and send in a small digital production (sound, image, text, or video), which testifies to their involvement in the project.

I am an auto-didactic cultural worker who has never been interested in discipline in any of its applications. I am primarily a performance artist although I also work in sound recording, sound installation and photography. My work is increasingly informed by the desire to make emotional, even therapeutic, impact on the audience member. As pretentious and new-agey as this may sound, I continue to believe in the healing power of art. I also love noise.
