LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE is an artist-run centre with a mandate to promote experimentation and dissemination in the field of visual arts. More specifically, this mandate hinges around a reflection of installation and site-specific practices, within three avenues: dissemination, production and documentation.
New ways of working with networked space have helped to redefine the parameters of visual art. This shift brought LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE’s collective to consider taking the notion of site-specific into cyberspace. Always on the lookout for new creative modes of production, LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE sees virtual space as a critical and essential part of contemporary art production.
The web creation laboratory offers artists a different context from which to consider their artistic practice. The web creation lab is a tool made available to artists who wish to expand their practice within this creative context. Open to multidisciplinary practices, the laboratory’s goal is to give artists access to the necessary resources to create artworks on the web. Technical support is offered as well as workshops on the various software necessary for this type of production. As well as being used by artists to create networked projects, net art and/or web art, the lab is equipped for the production of works such as artist resumes on CD-ROM, electronic projects, the digital treatment of still or moving images.
Web Production Residences
LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE offers both visual and media artists art production residences for six weeks with the goal of having artists create networked art and/or web projects that directly consider the concept of virtual space. Their projects are then put on LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE’s web site for a period of six months. We supply access to the production lab, training and technical support.
