Opening Act: Cible de Dieu by Jacques Poulin-Denis
Cible de Dieu is a solo performance about rout. With a humorous twirl, this piece exposes the personal turmoil of an ingenuous and ill-fated that is lead to the audience like a lamb to the wolves. On stage, right in front of our eyes, he reaches a turning point in his life, which leads him to quickly reappraise everything. The piece questions this specific moment where our resiliency turns into naïveté after it has become obvious that we chose the wrong path. It explores the human need to understand its purpose in life and to devise its own way. “ I hold on to this idea of following my way, but why do I suddenly get the feeling that this way doesn’t even exist?”
Les Cuisses à l’Écart du Coeur by Virginie Brunelle - For age 16 and older
(Winner of the 2008 303 Coups de Pouce’s price at the Vue sur la Relève Festival)
It screams, it’s raw, it’s urgent. It’s about sex, love, emotional desire and the need to please. Les Cuisses à l'Écart du Coeur tells the story of men and women living a fallacious sexuality. With the sexual act, they refute their true selves by denying their real desire and they reproduce social stereotypes that have nothing to do with how they really feel.
